Colour Treated Hair

All about haircare > Say goodbye to problems related to Colour Treated Hair

1. Keep your colour

Care for your color between visits with products specifically designed to prevent damage and prolong color. We recommend Nutrient Shampoo and Replenishing Conditioner with detangler. They work together effectively to refresh hair's color and reduce fading.

2. Pick the Right Products

When searching for the right combination of products, look first for shampoos and conditioners specially designed for color-treated hair. Then select styling products based on hair's texture such as curly, coarse or fine.

3. Focus On Conditioner

Even the most expertly applied colour can leave hair dry and damaged, which makes conditioning essential. Be sure to leave your conditioner in for three minutes before rinsing to replenish lost moisture, giving hair the shine and luster it deserves.

4. Adjust the temperature

Wash hair in lukewarm water to prevent the premature fading that hot water can cause.

5. Wait 2-3 days

After you colour your hair, wait two or three days (if you can make it) before shampooing to allow the colour to absorb completely. If you want to shower, use conditioner in place of shampoo to give extra moisture without stripping the colour.

6. Be especially gentle with colour-treated hair

Colouring weakens hair and makes it more prone to breakage. Only use covered elastics to tie it back and brush it with a natural bristle brush when it's dry.

When you shampoo, avoid tugging your hair, and wash gently.

Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair with minimal breakage.

7. Colour treated hair and swimming

Never go swimming without protecting your colour. Before going into a pool or the ocean, apply a leave-in conditioner on damp hair to prevent the chemicals and salt from stripping your colour.

8. Colour treated hair and sun

Don't go to a tanning bed or sit in the sun without covering your hair. The UV rays will react with your colour and may alter it or cause it to fade, so cover your hair with a scarf or hat.

9. Not too much heat

Blow-dry your hair when it's almost dry. The more heat you apply, the more damage you inflict to the cuticle.

If it is possible, dry with your fingers instead of a brush until the very end of the drying process.

10. Trim your hair

Trim your hair every four to six weeks to remove split ends and make your hair more manageable. A good haircut is the best foundation for the rest of the steps. It allows you to spend less time fussing with your hair and applying heat and more chemicals in an effort to coax it into doing what it doesn't want to do.
