Do your nails tend to be soft?

Do your nails tend to be soft? Then you're almost certainly putting your hands in water a lot: water and chlorine soften nails.

You might also be lacking vitamins B5, B6 or B8, trace elements or minerals that are important for keratin.

Solution

Wear rubber gloves when working, or coat your nails with gelatin that has been dissolved in hot water.

If you're lacking vitamins, add dried fruits and nuts, peaches and carrots to your diet.

If you're lacking trace elements, think about foods rich in zinc. It helps synthesize collagen fibers and keratin. Zinc is found particularly in meat, fish, seafood, legumes, nuts, wheat germ and yeast. The richest source is oysters (70 mg per 100 g).

Treatment

I remember, some decades ago, I was learning classical guitar. The nails of my right hand were subjected to rough treatment for hours at a time. A broken nail was a catastrophe: the sound wasn't the same. My teacher suggested putting a layer of Mavala on my nails every morning to harden them, forming a protective shield to keep them from breaking, chipping and splitting.

Mavala Nail Shield is a specific two-phase treatment: while protecting nails from aggression and shock, it also allows them to form and regenerate. It increases the resistance of soft and fragile nails. Its strengthening formula contains nylon fibers that form an even grid over the nail's surface, providing as much protection as a second nail.
